Antelope Valley Church of God in Christ (AV COGIC)
AV COGIC is a Biblical ministry of Excellence. Our ministry is designed to encourage life transformation through our threefold purpose: to Evangelize, Edify, and Equip the whole person to serve the community, and to reach the world for Jesus Christ. We strive to be compassionate in our love, excellent in our service, holy in our living, and passionate and reverent in our worship.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Antelope Valley Church of God in Christ Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
2. We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.
4. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
5. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
6. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.
7. We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for Him.
8. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

Church History

Antelope Valley Church of God in Christ is a powerful ministry in Littlerock, California. It was founded by Bishop G.L. Talley, a man who had a vision for his community and for the souls of men. With his vision and the help of his wife, Mother Helen Talley, this church was established. It is one of the oldest institutions for Christ in the Antelope Valley.

The church started in a home in Sun Village in 1952. The Lord opened a door for Pastor Talley to purchase property, and he built the church building, completing it in 1956. The first sanctuary seated 70 people. In 1971, forty feet were added to the building, increasing the capacity to 200 people. This sanctuary was essential for its congregation, and the Spirit of God moved in a mighty way.

God gave Pastor Talley the vision to build a larger facility to service the needs of the community. He desired to provide a church-school to educate children. He stepped out in faith and began to build with no money. Elder Emmanuel Oggs helped Pastor Talley build, and they were encouraged by Mother Talley’s words, “The Lord said he will provide whatever you need to get the job done.” The construction of a Fellowship Hall, classrooms, and a sanctuary began in 1989. They worked without wavering, block by block, praising God for his marvelous works! In 1993, the Fellowship Hall and classrooms for Desert Blossom Christian School were completed.

The old sanctuary was demolished in May 1999, and the congregation worshipped in the social hall while the new sanctuary was being built. On December 18, 2005, the congregation worshipped in the new sanctuary for the first time. It wasn’t painted and there was no carpet on the floor, but the members shouted and praised God for what he had already done!

In July 2011, Bishop Talley stepped up as the overseer and Elder Emmanuel Oggs became the pastor of Antelope Valley COGIC.
With the faithful membership, this ministry has been blessed to accomplish great things, and God is not through blessing us. We have seen God make the impossible possible! To God be the glory! It’s marvelous in our eyes!
